Foreign Trade Zone #54

FTZs are a federal program that operates within the U.S. Department of Commerce designed to provide benefits to business which may help to reduce their customs duties and improve cash flow.

The Development Corporation, the administrator of Foreign-Trade Zone #54 for the local Foreign-Trade Zone grantee, Clinton County, announced in August 2010 that its application to reorganize under the alternative site framework (ASF) had been approved. This new designation provides for a much broader regional coverage area and now includes as its service area all of Clinton County, New York. This will permit more companies to take advantage of the benefits of foreign-trade zones in Clinton County. The new framework will also expedite the process by which companies file for FTZ activation status.
