July 28, 2011 - New York State’s Governor Andrew Cuomo announced today that Adoré Flynn Kurtz has been appointed to the North Country Regional Economic Development Council. The ten (10) Regional Economic Development Councils are structured as public-private partnerships and will be responsible for creating long-term sustainable economic development strategies to guide investment decisions for their respective regions. These new entities are led by successful business and academic representatives so that the regional economic development strategy will reflect present and future job creation goals, develop plans for well-conceived physical, educational and environmental infrastructure and create the legacy of a revitalized New York for our residents and for those who come after us. “I am gratified to have been selected as a member of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council, and am honored to have the opportunity to work with such a distinguished group of regional leaders,” said Adoré Flynn Kurtz, President of The Development Corporation. “While we in the North Country are challenged by a very difficult economic environment we must take advantage of the unique resources and intellectual capital we have available to us and work collaboratively to develop economic development programs that successfully promote investment and sustainable job creation for the North Country.” Dr. John Ettling, President of the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and member of the Board of Directors of The Development Corporation, was also asked to serve on the council.
