Empire State Development (ESD) Names New North Country Regional Director

June 14, 2011 - ESD President, CEO & Commissioner Kenneth Adams announced today that Roseanne Winslow Murphy, CEcD, has been promoted to the position of ESD’s Regional Director for the North Country Region. She has previously served as the North County Deputy Regional Director. As the Regional Director, Murphy will manage ESD operations in the North Country on a day-to-day basis and serve as Executive Director of the North Country Regional Economic Development Council. The Regional Director is responsible for directing activities in seven counties: Jefferson, Lewis, St. Lawrence, Franklin, Clinton, Essex and Hamilton counties. She will be responsible for leading the development of a regional economic plan for the North Country.

“I am delighted that ESD’s new Regional Director for the North Country is so well versed in the issues affecting our region,” said Adoré Flynn Kurtz, President of The Development Corporation. “I have had the pleasure of working with Murphy on numerous economic development projects. She understands well the importance of regional collaboration and has a realistic vision for the exciting potential of the entire North Country. Her previous body of work, including serving as an interim CEO of the Plattsburgh Airbase Redevelopment Corporation, has prepared her well for this new assignment. As a long-term advisor to the North Country Alliance (NCA), the North Country’s premier regional economic development organization, Murphy has an intimate understanding how the NCA can be a strong partner with the soon to be announced North Country Regional Economic Development Council into the future.”
