One Community, Two Colleges

Plattsburgh enjoys the status of being the only community in New York State that is home to two state colleges. 


The State University of New York at Plattsburgh is a highly regarded institution that offers both undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The University has approximately 5,400 undergraduate students enrolled and has programs in 59 disciplines. The School of Business and Economics has a reputation for graduates that are well trained professionals in Accounting, International Business and a new concentration in Supply Chain Management. SUNY Plattsburgh has one of the largest international student populations per capita of all comprehensive colleges in the State University of New York system, with 385 students coming from a wide variety of countries including Canada, Antigua, China, the People’s Republic of China, Egypt, Japan, South Korea, Sri Lanka, United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Tanzania and India. From friendliness to academic satisfaction, a recent survey has SUNY Plattsburgh scoring some of the highest marks in the world among international students.

The 2010 International Student Barometer ranked SUNY Plattsburgh first in the world when it came to making friends and first in the United States when it came to student satisfaction with the overall learning environment. The university also ranked third in overall satisfaction among its global competitors and fifth in the world for satisfaction with the overall learning environment.

Clinton Community College is a member of the State University of New York system; awarding Associates degrees and certificates in a wide array of disciplines. With approximately 2,500 students, Clinton Community College fulfills a crucial role in the community in training young adults, adult learners and many others for technical careers or for advancement toward higher degrees. The College occupies a historic locale in the community, set high atop bluffs overlooking Lake Champlain at the site of a historic resort where the rich and famous and even U.S. Presidents have vacationed.
